Oakland junior JaCoby Stevens (7) has decommitted from LSU.
MURFREESBORO — Two Mr. Football finalists and a pair of Mr. Football semifinalists headline the All-Region 2-6A team.
The team includes players from all eight teams, including five from Rutherford County.
The Region 2-6A superlative awards will not be released until the region banquet, scheduled for 6 p.m. Dec. 16 at Stones River Country Club.
Mr. Football finalists JaCoby Stevens and Jacob Smith lead the group.
Stevens, an Oakland junior, is one of 12 Patriots on the All-Region team. Two more were named honorable mention.
Stevens, who was a Class 6A Mr. Football Back finalist, had 84 tackles, six interceptions and recovered two fumbles. He also had 32 catches for 86 yards and 16 total touchdowns.
Smith, a Siegel junior and finalist for the Mr. Football Kicker of the Year award, hit 10-of-11 field goals with a long of 44 yards and was 35-of-36 on extra points. His lone PAT miss was blocked. Smith also averaged 39.8 yards a punt this season for the Stars.
He is one of six Siegel players on the all-region team, which also includes three honorable mention members.
Oakland defensive end Ty Nix and Blackman running back Taeler Dowdy also were named to the team. Both were Mr. Football semifinalists.
Nix, a senior, had 70 tackles and five sacks. Dowdy, a senior, had 2,115 rushing yards — tops in the county in 2015 — on 270 carries with 30 total touchdowns.
Blackman had 10 players selected to the all-region team along with two named honorable mention.
